A Note from TRMM Data Provider (2008/04/14)
14 April 2008 The infrared data suppliers at NOAA/CPC had a major hardware failure on 11 April that resulted in the loss of all infrared data in the TMPA-RT system for the period 01UTC 11 April through 21UTC 13 April 2008. As a result, no 3B41RT and 3B42RT products are currently available for that period. New IR data are now flowing, but it will take several days for NOAA/CPC to reconstruct the lost data. So, we intend to create 3B42RT for the affected period off-line, using only the 3B40RT products as input. Since the microwave data now cover 75 or 80% of each 3-hourly map, this fill-in should be satisfactory in most cases. Nonetheless, users should be aware that sampling error will be higher during the fill-in period.
A Note from TRMM Data Provider (2008/03/15)
A serious processing issue was discovered that required the re-computation of the Version 6 TRMM products 3B42 and 3B43 for the month of November 2007. The official archive at the Goddard DISC has now been updated, both the HDF data files and the Preview images. Users must discard the old, defective files and re-pull the new files for the November 2007 Version 6 3B42 and/or 3B43. Likewise, the TOVAS system has updated its data holdings. Users who previously used TOVAS to access November 2007 data from the Version 6 3B42 (3-hourly or daily) and/or 3B43 (monthly) must discard those results and re-acquire the analyses that they performed. Our apologies for the confusion.)
